1 Don’t scald your hard-earned colour off in hot showers and baths. Take cool showers and use an oil-based shower cream or, even better, a good oily handmade soap.

 

2 Bin moisturisers that say ‘Aqua’ at the top of their ingredients list. Any water content in lotions degrades them. Slather on grapeseed or coconut oil instead. It doesn’t matter if you look like an oil slick. Get greasy and your skin will thank you!

 

3 Only exfoliate when you’re well oiled (your body, that is, not your brain!). Or mix a fine grain exfoliator with your oil-based moisturiser and go easy on it. Once a week is enough.

 

  1. Up your water intake and eat plenty of carrots, sweet peppers, apricots, and sweet potatoes. The beta carotene content can create sun-kissed looking skin – but you have to consume loads.
